Avago launches new high-performance broadband InGaP HBT gain block

Avago Technologies today announced the launch of two new economical, easy-to-use general-purpose InGaP heterojunction bipolar transistor (HBT, Hetero-JuncTIon Bipolar Transistor) MMIC gain square amplifier products suitable for a variety of different wireless communication applications . Operating from DC to 6,000MHz, Avago ’s AVT-51663 / 53663 gain blocks can be used as broadband gain blocks or driver amplifiers. These gain blocks designed for mobile communications infrastructure applications can also be used in base stations, WiMAX, WLAN, CATV , Satellite TV and set-top boxes and other wireless communication applications. Avago ’s AVT-51663 / 53663 gain square amplifiers are internally designed to match 50Ω. They use Darlington architecture and are supplied in industry standard 6-pin SOT-363 surface mount plastic packages, providing Darlington with good broadband performance The feedback structure can bring the usable operating frequency range up to 6GHz, making the AVT-51663 / 53663 suitable for use as a small signal gain in series or intermediate frequency amplification. These new gain blocks are very easy to install. They only need DC blocking capacitors, RF chokes, bias resistors and bypass capacitors to work. No other RF matching devices are needed to achieve broadband performance output.

These new gain square amplifiers are developed with advanced InGaP HBT technology that leads the industry in reliability, temperature stability, and performance. Under typical operating conditions of 5V and 37mA, the AVT-51663 can provide 19.0dB gain and 24dBm output third-order intercept point.
