By 2016, they launched the “No Water Between Barrels” feature, eliminating the need for manual cleaning and introducing the concept of “partition washing + no-clean.” This year, Haier took it a step further with a “no-barrel” washing machine, completely removing the outer drum and solving the long-standing issue of dirty drums. In the video, an experimenter used a gastroscope to inspect a traditional washing machine's inner drum after five years of use, revealing thick layers of gray-black dirt. After multiple wash cycles, the water remained cloudy, and the dirt was still present. However, when the same drum was placed in a Haier no-clean washing machine, the discharged water turned dark, showing that the accumulated dirt was effectively removed, proving the effectiveness of the technology.

Whether through the iF award or the popular dirty barrel experiment, Haier's no-clean technology has consistently demonstrated its innovation and commitment to health and hygiene. In fact, Haier's earlier models, including the machine-free and zone-washing washing machines, had already won the iF Design Award in 2016 and 2017. This year’s grand prize reaffirms the global recognition of Haier’s technological leadership and design excellence, showcasing China’s growing influence on the international stage.
