Seoul Semiconductor: Advocating mutual respect for each other's patents among LED peers

Seoul Semiconductor [stock listing number: KOSDAQ 046890], one of the world's leading manufacturers of light-emitting diode (LED) environmentally-friendly lighting technology, announced today that it was filed by Taiwan AOT Company to the Korean court to demand that the Seoul Semiconductor White LED patent invalidation It was concluded at the Korean Supreme Court on March 14th, and Seoul Semiconductor won the case. In addition, Seoul Semiconductor has reached an agreement with the Korean LED manufacturer Itsw el l.

As Seoul Semiconductor and Itswell reached a settlement agreement to resolve litigation and claims for white LED patent production rights, Seoul Semiconductor also signed an agreement with Itswell for the licensing of white LED patents. The agreement allows Seoul Semiconductor to impose a royalty on its patents for the company's past and future use of Seoul Semiconductor's white LED production technology.

A Seoul Semiconductor spokesperson said: "We hope to achieve a mutually beneficial relationship with the LED industry by establishing a white LED ownership license agreement with Itswell, and establishing a mutually beneficial relationship. Our actions and businesses, we are still determined to take tough measures to combat."

According to Deutsche Bank's forecast, the LED industry scale will grow to the same level in the memory semiconductor industry in 2017. In the future Korean economy, the proportion of the LED industry in the information technology industry will also become larger and larger, and will be equal to LCD, PDP and mobile phones. Based on the growth prospects of the LED market, about 100 LED companies in Korea, including Seoul Semiconductor, one of the world's top five manufacturers of LED environmental lighting and packaging technology, have invested heavily in technology research and development and business development.

Seoul Semiconductor won the agreement with Itswell and the patent production rights lawsuit, once again confirming Seoul Semiconductor's patent portfolio and gaining a strong advantage in the globally competitive patent market. Over the past 15 years, Seoul Semiconductor has continued to invest in technology research and development to expand its patent portfolio, patents registered and acquired in major countries and regions of the LED industry, such as the United States, Europe, Japan, China and Taiwan. A total of about 2,000 rights.

HDI (high density interconnection) circuit boards and Microvia PCB Technology are inextricably linked. Microvias are minute holes drilled by a laser to generate the electrical connection between the layers in a multilayer circuit board.

Via in Pad microvias play a decisive role in the miniaturisation of circuit boards. [Via in Pad[ means that microvia holes are located directly in the solder pads. As microvias are not blind holes no capillary forces arise. The solder deposit fills the minimum hollow space.
