Cree and Nichia expand their cross-licensing scope

On September 17, 2007, Cree announced an agreement with Japan's Nichia to include white LED technology and Cree's patents on certain nitride lasers, expanding the 2002 and 2005 cross-licensing agreements. Scope, and solved the case of the infringement of LED products sold by Nichia Controls Huagang International Trading Co., Ltd. (a subsidiary of Huagang Optoelectronic Parts Co., Ltd.) (before Cree acquired Huagang Optoelectronic Parts Co., Ltd.).

In addition, Cree and Nichia agree to resolve patent disputes involving products of either or both of the parties (the company has a controlling stake in it) through a method that does not have any potential impact on the customer. Customers can therefore purchase products from Nichia or Cree without fear of receiving infringement complaints.
Other terms of the agreement are not disclosed but are not expected to have any material financial impact on both parties.
