Seoul Semiconductor Co. Ltd. recently announced the successful development and launch of the world's brightest P4 LED lighting technology. The P4 requires only a single chip, emitting 240 lm (lumen) brightness at 1A (1 amp), creating the most efficient brightness of 100 lm/W 350 mA, compared to 70 lm/W for conventional fluorescent lamps and traditional bulbs. 15 lm/W is brighter and more cost effective.
Lee Semiconductor, CEO of Seoul Semiconductor, said: "P4 provides another new lighting option for human beings in addition to traditional light bulbs and fluorescent lamps. The traditional LED lighting technology needs to combine several chips to send out. With a brightness of more than 100 lm, the P4 developed by Seoul Semiconductor is the only one in the world that can emit 240 lm through a single chip."
The patent and assembly technology of Seoul Semiconductor enables the P4 to provide the highest illuminance and excellent reliability, helping to cope with many obstacles related to thermal processing. Seoul Semiconductor's P4 technology can be further developed into two types of products that can be applied to various everyday categories, namely 80 lm/W 350 mA and 100 lm/W 350 mA.
In 2007, Seoul Semiconductor plans to increase the brightness performance of the P4 to 135 lm/W and then to 145 lm/W in the first quarter of 2008.
