The Louvre Museum plans to replace existing lighting products such as neon lights in Napoleon Square, Pyramid, Pyramidion and CourCarree (square atrium) with LED lighting products to reduce environmental impact.
The lighting renovation plan for Napoleon Square, the Pyramid and the Small Pyramid will be completed by the end of 2011, and the lighting renovation of the Cali courtyard will be completed in 2012.
Toshiba is expected to provide approximately 4,500 LED lighting fixtures and will also provide support for lighting renovation projects. Toshiba intends to expand its lighting business by providing LED lighting fixtures to the Louvre Museum to expand the brand recognition of Toshiba Lighting.
It is reported that Toshiba began to deploy new lighting business worldwide in April 2009. Toshiba has set up operations in France, Germany and Italy in Europe. It has started selling LED bulbs to ordinary consumers in January 2010. It is currently intensifying sales in France.
