[High-tech LED News] EpiGaN's first round of capital raising has ended, raising a total of 4 million euros, the investment is Capricorn Clean Technology Fund, Robert Bosch Venture Capital and LRM. EpiGaN will use the proceeds to start mass production of GaN-on-Si.
EpiGaN was founded in 2010 by Marianne Germain, Joff Derluyn, and Stefan Degroote, who served as CEO, CTO, and COO. In fact, they have been cooperating for more than 10 years. Before that, they jointly developed GaN-on-Si based on 4" and 6" wafers at the Belgian microelectronics research institute IMEC. EpiGaN is currently licensed by IMEC for some GaN-on-Si technologies.
IMEC President Luc Van den hove said that the IMEC-based GaN-on-Si technology research results have successfully created EpiGaN, which can bring IMEC technology to market.
