New geotextile direct shear test method and liquid crystal table operation Geotextile Direct Shear Test Method 1. Place the sample flat on a rigid horizontal base located in the lower portion of the shear box, ensuring the front end is clamped within the shear zone. The sample should be bonded to the base using adhesive. After bonding, the specimen must remain flat, without folds or wrinkles. Any relative slippage between the sample and the base is not allowed during the test. 2. Install the cutting box: fill the upper shear box with standard sand of pre-determined quality (note: users should use the appropriate standard sand). The thickness of the sand should be set to 50mm, uniformly distributed. After compaction, the dry density should be 1750kg/m³. 3. Install the horizontal loading system and apply a normal pressure of 50kPa to the sample. 4. Apply a horizontal load at a rate of 1mm/min ± 0.2mm/min, corresponding to the displacement between the upper and lower shear boxes. Continuously or intermittently measure the shear force T and record the corresponding relative displacement ΔL. The interval time is 12 seconds, and it can also be recorded at the beginning until the cut surface reaches 16.5% of its length. At this point, the test ends. LCD Operation Steps: 1) Turn on the power switch. 2) Press the function key to start a new test. 3) Enter the required test speed and press Enter. Screen display includes: "shear force", "shear stress", "peak", "displacement". 4) Press the start button to begin the test (i.e., incremental stress, first test with normal stress of 50kPa). Once valid, it automatically proceeds to the next level: 100kPa, 150kPa, and 200kPa. 5) When the displacement begins to count, the total contact surface is completed. Once the test reaches 16.5% of the cut surface, the machine will stop automatically, and the test data will be displayed. If the results are correct, press the confirm button to save the data.
