Feng Xing: LeTV's total mobile phone sales reached 5 million units

In the tech world, LeTV has made significant strides in the mobile phone market. According to a report by Netease Technology News on January 21, Feng Xing, Senior Vice President of LeTV Holdings and President of LeTV Mobile, announced that LeTV's total mobile phone sales have now exceeded 5 million units, achieving this milestone in just eight months. LeTV's mobile phones were first launched in May of last year, and by the end of the previous year, they had already surpassed 4 million units sold. To date, the cumulative sales of LeTV's super smartphones—such as the Le 1, Le 1 Pro, Le Max, and Le 1S—have reached 5 million. This impressive growth reflects the brand’s strong market presence and consumer appeal. Looking ahead to 2016, Feng Xing set an ambitious target: LeTV aims to sell 15 million smartphones next year, with production expected to range between 25 million and 30 million units. He described this goal as “eating the tiger’s mouth,” indicating that the market may not easily accommodate such rapid expansion. As LeTV grows, it could push some competitors out of the market or force them to scale back significantly. Feng emphasized that when LeTV's sales jumped from one million to ten million, it marked a turning point, signaling the brand's shift from a niche player to a major contender in the mainstream smartphone industry. He added that 2016 is a critical year for LeTV, as it could determine the company’s future trajectory in the highly competitive mobile market. Beyond its online presence, LeTV is also focusing on expanding its offline footprint. Reports suggest that the company plans to open more physical stores, including LePar outlets, which will offer mobile phone services. Additionally, traditional TV service centers will be integrated into this strategy, enhancing LeTV’s offline distribution network. Another key growth area for LeTV is the international market. The company has already entered India, launching models like the Le Max and Le 1S. LeEco also announced plans to establish 555 round-the-clock service centers across the country, along with a research and development center in Bangalore. This facility will hire over 1,000 employees to work on various services, including TVs, smartphones, accessories, music platforms, and cloud solutions. With these strategic moves, LeTV is positioning itself as a global player in the smartphone industry, aiming to capture a larger share of both domestic and international markets.
