Mitsubishi's new hatchback SUV will be launched, cross-country is stronger than Jeep, and 110,000 will allow Binzhi to retire early!

If you were to ask long-time car enthusiasts who have a deep affection for vehicles about the Mitsubishi brand, they would undoubtedly share a wealth of stories. Back then, Mitsubishi was well-established in the country due to its affordable pricing and excellent suitability for modifications, making it one of the most beloved sports car brands. Models like the EVO created countless legends, while the Golan remains highly sought after. However, over the past decade, Mitsubishi has neglected the domestic market, leading to a significant decline in sales that nearly vanished. It wasn't until last year that the company refocused on the domestic auto market, introducing the domestically produced Outlander, priced under 160,000 yuan, which quickly quadrupled its sales in a short period. By the end of 2018, Mitsubishi announced at least five new models for the country. One of the first to launch was the Eclipse Cross, as shown in the image. Positioned as a compact sporty SUV, it's slightly smaller than the current version but offers a higher positioning. The front grille bears a striking resemblance to the Outlander. Overseas models come standard with a 1.5T engine, while the top-tier version offers a 2.2T diesel engine option. Additionally, the high-end models feature Mitsubishi’s advanced S-AWC super four-wheel-drive system, providing off-road capabilities comparable to Land Rover, marking the return of the Mitsubishi we once knew. The domestic version is expected to be equipped with a 1.6L engine on the base model, priced around 110,000 yuan. The top-tier 2.2T four-wheel-drive version may exceed 200,000 yuan. The Eclipse Cross features a hatchback design, though not the coupe-style SUV look of Mazda. The body is relatively tall, resembling the BMW X6 in silhouette, with tougher lines. The red model shown here uses metallic paint, a rarity among Japanese small SUVs. The interior, as seen in the picture, uses plenty of soft materials, with numerous buttons on the multifunction steering wheel, emphasizing its sporty nature. High-end models are equipped with a touchpad in front of the central armrest, similar to the Audi infotainment system. Overseas models can include a panoramic sunroof, expected to be standard on mid-to-high-end domestic versions. The rear seats offer generous space, comparable to the Binzhi, making it a strong competitor in the small SUV segment. But how does it stack up against its price point? At around 100,000 yuan, Binzhi may find itself under pressure. Meanwhile, for domestic compact SUVs like the H6, Mitsubishi's Eclipse Cross presents a formidable challenge.
