I-PEX Releases New RF Connector with Internal Locking Function

In high-impact and high-vibration environments, the issue of RF connectors coming loose from printed circuit boards has long been a challenge for design engineers. Now, with the introduction of new connectors featuring built-in latching mechanisms, this problem can be effectively addressed.

On September 25th, I-PEX launched its new MHF series, including the ILK RF coaxial connectors and wiring. These connectors are designed to securely lock into place on the PCB using an internal latch mechanism, eliminating the need for messy adhesives or epoxies. This innovative locking system ensures that the connector remains in a precise position, improving both production efficiency and long-term reliability.

The ILK connector shares the same compact design as the miniature MHF I connector, which is widely used for connecting antennas to radios and for testing radio systems. It delivers top performance in the smallest form factor, giving engineers more flexibility when designing their boards. Its small size also makes it ideal for space-constrained applications without compromising signal integrity.

These connectors support a wide range of modern communication standards, including Wi-Fi, 4G LTE, Bluetooth, GPS, M2M, IoT, SigFox, WiSUN, NB-IoT, and LoRa. They are particularly well-suited for demanding environments such as automotive, aerospace, and drone applications where durability and stability are critical.

The MHF series offers multiple cable options with various outer diameters, including 0.81mm, 1.13mm, 1.32mm, 1.37mm, and 1.80mm, providing designers with greater adaptability for different project requirements.

With the connectors now firmly in place, engineers can focus more on developing creative and efficient solutions without worrying about mechanical instability or connection issues.
