Simple motor speed control circuit design

Although the speed control circuit described in this article is quite straightforward, it can effectively adjust the speed of a motor with a working current not exceeding 1A. As illustrated in the diagram below, the NE555 is employed as an oscillator, and the pulse frequency at its output (pin 3) can be adjusted between 5 and 12 Hz. The range of adjustment depends on the values of R1 and C1. A power output stage for controlling the motor is constructed using transistors T1 and T2. AJ1 and P1 allow you to control the oscillation frequency of the 555. Two modes of operation are available: "speed control" and "speed shift." In the "speed control" mode, you set P1 to a specific frequency, allowing the motor to rotate at a fixed speed. The "speed shift" mode utilizes an automatic control mechanism to continuously adjust P1, enabling the motor to vary its speed dynamically.
