Today marks a significant milestone for OSRAM as the company officially announces the appointment of Gunnar Eberhardt as the President and CEO of OSRAM China. This transition begins on August 1, 2017, marking a new chapter for the company’s operations in the rapidly expanding Chinese market.
Gunnar Eberhardt brings with him over 15 years of expertise in specialty lighting, a testament to his deep-rooted knowledge and experience in the industry. His role will encompass strategic leadership and oversight of OSRAM China's overall corporate management, operational execution, and growth initiatives within the region.

In a statement, Gunnar expressed his excitement about joining OSRAM China, saying, “China represents one of the most dynamic markets in the world for lighting solutions. I am eager to refine our strategies and steer the company toward greater success." He emphasized the importance of leveraging their existing strengths while capitalizing on emerging opportunities to deliver even more value to both the market and our valued customers.
Before assuming this role, Gunnar served as the CEO of OSRAM Specialty Lighting across the Asia-Pacific region. Before that, he held the position of Senior Director and Regional Head of the Specialty Lighting Division, where he successfully led operations spanning Latin America, the Middle East, and Africa. Joining OSRAM back in 2002, Gunnar has steadily climbed the ranks through various roles in business development and marketing, each step solidifying his reputation as a dynamic leader.
Gunnar’s educational background includes a Master’s degree in Industrial Engineering from the University of Technology & Business in Kempten, Germany, as well as a Master’s degree in Innovative Technology and Management from the University of Vorarlberg. These qualifications have undoubtedly played a pivotal role in shaping his successful career trajectory.
As OSRAM continues to expand its footprint in China, under Gunnar’s leadership, the company is poised to achieve even greater heights. His extensive experience and forward-thinking approach make him an ideal candidate to guide OSRAM through its next phase of growth and innovation.
