According to recent updates from Chongqing Green Technology Development Group Co., Ltd., to enhance the safety of highways, particularly within tunnels, a total of 704 Internet-connected, multi-color temperature, anti-fog LED streetlights were installed across five tunnels: Longjiawan, Huangshaxi, Yuanjiagang, Eile, and Chenjiaping. These intelligent streetlights address issues related to poor visibility in summertime tunnels.

Smart Features: Dimming Based on Weather Conditions

"The Internet-connected, multi-color temperature, anti-fog LED fully intelligent streetlights installed during construction possess several innovative features," explained Su Chengyong, legal representative of Chongqing Green Technology Development (Group) Co., Ltd. In adverse weather conditions like rain, fog, hail, snow, or sandstorms, as well as when air quality indicators such as PM2.5 levels, temperature, and humidity are high, the sensors trigger an adjustment to the LED streetlight's color temperature to yellow (with a 3000K color temperature). This feature enhances the light's diffraction, scattering intensity, and wavelength radiation, thereby improving its penetration ability and ensuring safer driving conditions. Additionally, these lights surpass national standards for road surface brightness uniformity, illuminance uniformity, and energy-saving rates. A multi-color temperature LED streetlight can serve as both a multi-color and a regular monochrome LED streetlight, offering double the lifespan and greater cost-effectiveness."

Furthermore, these multi-color temperature, anti-fog LED intelligent streetlights can automatically adjust tunnel illumination based on day and night changes, providing a secondary energy-saving feature known as "tunnel night mode." This helps eliminate dark areas caused by turning off lights in certain zones, reducing potential traffic hazards.

Energy Efficiency: 70.14% Energy Savings

"Since their opening, these tunnels have been lit by high-pressure sodium lamps, which suffer from dim lighting, poor color rendering, and uneven illumination, especially during spring and summer," noted Su Chengyong. "Yellow lighting in particular has proven ineffective." The newly upgraded lighting system can automatically adjust the light's color temperature to the most comfortable setting depending on seasonal and environmental changes, ranging from warm white (3500K) to cool white (5500K). This adjustment ensures optimal urban street lighting comfort while addressing issues at tunnel entrances and exits.

In 2013, the product underwent testing and demonstration in the Yuanjiagang Lawn Tunnel, Eile Ridge Tunnel, and Chenjiaping Tunnel in Jiulongpo District. The city’s lighting administration conducted on-site engineering tests, revealing that the energy savings compared to the original high-pressure sodium lamps reached an impressive 70.14%.
