4G applications emerge, Ericsson deploys LTE to fight future communications

Recently, the news of the separation of STMicroelectronics Group and Ericsson has been in full swing, and even rumors are estimated that 1600 people will be laid off everywhere. It is said that in terms of segmentation, Ericsson intends to take over the 4G chip manufacturing department and intends to turn it into a profit, becoming the world's top three 4G chip manufacturers. Yesterday, Ericsson's general manager Zeng Shiyuan actively aimed at the strategy of deploying 4G in 2013, stating: This year is the first year of the outbreak of LTE users. I believe that the three aspects of mobile, broadband and cloud integration of software and hardware will be the key to decisive communication in the future!

According to Ericsson's research prediction, 2013 will be the bursting point of LTE users, from the global 55 million in 2012 to 100 million, and by the end of 2013, the number of mobile network users will exceed the fixed-line population for the first time.

In this regard, Zeng Shiyuan explained that the biggest difference between 4G and 3G lies in latency. If 4G is really achieved, many applications in future life such as police radio, disaster relief system and LTE broadcast will bring users a brand new network experience. He used the example of the professional baseball classics. If there is 4G, it can broadcast to the user's mobile phone using the least bandwidth resources. Therefore, even if the front seat is not bought, consumers can clearly see the player's angle of impact in real time. Ericsson will launch this LTE broadcast service in collaboration with Verizon Wireless in 2014.

However, Zeng Shiyuan further explained that the development of 4G will also bring a lot of challenges to mobile operators, including how to formulate new charging standards, optimization of service quality and differentiation of strategies with competitors. He explained: In the past, global operators had only one strategy, which was to build base stations and networks, build a good brand image, and then make money by selling call hours. But in the face of the 4G era, mobile operators must rethink their roles and must have different strategies and diversity of services to satisfy consumers.

Currently, 50% of smartphone traffic on the global LTE network is supported by Ericsson. The partners include operators Verzion, AT & T, China Mobile, and software provider SAP, and browser provider Mozilla. It seems that Ericsson has been increasing its investment in 4G LTE, whether it is in the process of commercialization of products or software and related cooperation, it is quite active.
