Google released the first VR helmet for $79

Earlier this morning, Google held a press conference in the United States. In addition to the first products such as Pixel, which supports Daydream, Google also released Daydream View, the first VR device that supports Daydream. The price is $79 and will be sold with the handle in November.

According to Google VR Director Clay Bavor, Daydream View will be fitted with a number of Daydream-ready phones, and the newly released Pixel and Pixel XL, which is priced at $649, is the first to support the Daydream system. The device can wirelessly connect Daydream View helmets. The only difference between the two new phones is that the former is 5 feet in size and the latter is larger in 5.5 feet, but both are equipped with HD AMOLED screens and the processor is Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 with 4GB of memory.

Daydream View is 30% lighter than Gear VR VR helmets, equipped with an automatic adjustment system and helmet space is large enough to allow users to wear glasses. In addition, the outside of the View is made of fiber materials, giving a soft and comfortable feel. The View has three colors for the player to choose from, including dark blue grey, snow white and reddish brown, but the latter two will be shipped later this year.

According to reports, the View controller is very accurate and durable. Since the View helmet is designed with a groove in the place where the mobile phone is inserted, the player can conveniently place the handle and the helmet together when not in use.

At the conference, Google showed several applications that support Daydream View, including the Harry Potter experience scene game "Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them" that was created in partnership with Warner Bros. Massive multiplayer online game development company CCP Games also announced that the popular shooting game "Gunjack 2" has been adapted to the View handle. Classic Google apps like Google Play, Street View and YouTube will also be compatible with Daydream View. At the same time, HBO and Netflix VR applications will also provide users with VR content experiences just like the New York Times.
