On the afternoon of the 12th, the “Promoting Guangdong LED Lighting Application Seminar†hosted by the Guangdong Provincial Research and Research Center was held in Guangzhou. Li Xinjia, deputy dean of the Guangdong Academy of Social Sciences, said at the meeting that Guangdong will focus on the development of three new emerging industries, including high-end new electronic information, LED lighting and electric vehicles, in accordance with the national strategic emerging industry plan. In terms of LED, the development of this industry in Guangdong has been far ahead of the country. At present, LED packaging production in Guangdong accounts for about 70% of the country's total, accounting for about 50% of the world.
According to the information disclosed in the seminar, Guangdong will increase efforts to promote LED energy-saving lighting. This year, 100,000 LED street lights will be opened in Guangzhou, Dongguan, Foshan, Zhongshan, Zhaoqing, Heyuan, Jiangmen and other cities. Shenzhen and Dongguan will start construction of the national “Ten Cities and Ten Thousand†semiconductor lighting application engineering pilot city, Guangzhou in the Asian Games. LED street lights that will be put into use before the opening will exceed 50,000 miles.
At present, Guangdong has more than 2,600 LED lighting products manufacturers led by Shenzhen. Last year, the industry's output value reached 31 billion yuan. An official from the Guangdong Provincial Department of Science and Technology said that by 2015, the market size of this industry in Guangdong will exceed 80 billion yuan.
