Indonesia's 3,000 solar power stations bid for 180 billion

The Indonesian government will bid for 3,000 solar power plants next year to expand the distribution of electricity throughout the country. Buvono, director of the Department of Energy and Energy Applications at the Ministry of Mines, said the tender would mean an additional 10,000 units based on 20,000 solar power plants this year. The government hopes that the tender will proceed smoothly, and these power stations can be allocated free of charge to areas far from the national power company network. He said. The supply of 20,000 power stations will almost certainly be achieved, as the successful bidder has already determined in early May that the total number of stations built is 180 billion rupiah, from the national revenue and expenditure budget. These power stations are expected to be completed in August and will be directly allocated to the relevant regions. The government deployed 33,000 power stations last year, worth 240 billion rupiah.

Hidato, Director of the Renewable Energy Division of the Indonesian Energy Management Corporation, said that the recent government's continued construction of solar power plants is very purposeful. Since solar energy is a renewable energy source and is suitable for development in remote areas, such power plants are not affected by fuel price increases and have nothing to do with the energy crisis. From its utility point of view, it should also be vigorously developed, because the current electrification level of residents has just reached 65%, and most of the remaining 35% of residents still live in areas without electricity.
