QuickLogic® Corporation announced that it has developed an evaluation module for VEE technology that enables OEMs and ODMs to visualize the benefits that VEE technology brings to mobile devices—revolvingly improving image quality and extending battery life. The evaluation module comes pre-configured with a variety of interfaces for mobile processors and LCD devices that developers can easily plug into existing systems to evaluate VEE technology in existing devices without additional investment. .

QuickLogic's VEE technology provides a TV-quality viewing experience for video media in mobile systems by targeted real-time improvements in image/video data. Unlike the traditional overall improvement method, the gamma proofing and CABC methods, VEE is based on background sensitivity and adjusts the image in pixels. VEE technology also adjusts the display to the effect of ambient lighting, so developers can save power more efficiently, rather than simply improving the visibility of daylight by increasing the intensity of the background light.

Li Haotao, Marketing Manager for Advanced Solutions at QuickLogic, said: "Our VEE technology has a significant impact on the visual experience and battery life of mobile systems. We developed this evaluation module to enable customers to see VEE directly from their own products. The results, no need to spend the pre-preparation time and R&D investment to build the prototype system.” As a pre-configured custom platform product CSSPs, the module can be seamlessly installed between the display panel and the main PCB. Li Haotao said: "This way, OEMs and ODMs can directly test and drive VEE technology in their labs, even for end users."

The PolarPro VEE evaluation module integrates an on-board ambient light sensor to test the VEE technology's response to ambient lighting and to independently control the VEE intensity. The evaluation module also installs a Flash ROM to ensure that the VEE parameters are unchanged when CSSP is configured on a particular LCD display. An on-board switching regulator ensures that the evaluation module can use the power of the mobile device and is not limited by the operating voltage, allowing you to evaluate the impact of VEE on battery life.

The VEE evaluation module is immediately available to customers considering the application of VEE technology in their mobile design. In addition, QuickLogic will configure the initial display parameters of the VEE evaluation module based on the OEM/ODM LCD display parameters to simplify the integration process.
