Molex Introduces Brad SST Exciter Sensor Interface (AS-i) Module

Molex, a global leader in electronic components, has launched the SST™ exciter sensor interface (AS-i) module. This innovative solution is designed to seamlessly connect Rockwell Logix control systems—such as CompactLogix, MicroLogix 1500, and ControlLogix—to AS-Interface networks. The AS-i module offers an open fieldbus system that simplifies integration with PLC backplanes and a wide range of field I/O devices, including actuators, sensors, rotary encoders, analog inputs and outputs, push buttons, and valve position sensors.

Designed for industrial automation, this module is ideal for applications such as conveyor belt control, packaging equipment, process control valves, infusion plants, power distribution systems, airport rotary conveyors, elevators, filling lines, and food production lines. Its versatility makes it a valuable addition to modern manufacturing environments where reliability and efficiency are critical.

The AS-i communication module is built for chassis installation and supports signals from AS-i field devices. It transmits data to the PLC and sends control commands back to the AS-i actuator. The module complies with the latest AS-i 3.0 standard while maintaining compatibility with older models and new AS-i products. It also features fast cycle times, making it suitable for high-speed device control applications.

In addition to its performance, the module comes with bundled cables and configuration software, along with diagnostic capabilities that help identify configuration errors and network issues. These features not only streamline the commissioning process but also minimize downtime, ensuring smooth and efficient operation in complex industrial settings.
