In the past six months, Facebook’s monthly active users have only grown by 2%, while Tumblr, another light blogging platform, has grown by 120%. Overall, Facebook’s total subscriber growth is only 6%. Instagram, LinkedIn, Twitter, YouTube and even Google+ are all growing faster than Facebook.
On the mobile side, users who use Snapchat immediately after reading increased by 56%, ranking behind Facebook Messenger and Instagram. This data also shows that Facebook has made significant achievements after separating Messenger. At the same time, Facebook has also gradually shifted its energy to other small applications, hoping to develop more services independently. Industry insiders pointed out that Facebook is facing major challenges, the United States and the United Kingdom, half of the users have reduced the use of Facebook (64% of young people ). The data shows that today’s users’ emotions when using Facebook are much more negative than before.
However, the slowdown in the number of new users cannot hide Facebook’s size and strength. According to data released by the International Telecommunication Union, the total number of Internet users in the world has reached 3 billion. Facebook’s 1.36 billion monthly active users mean that more than a third of Internet users worldwide are using Facebook.
According to the Global Web Index, except for China, four-fifths of all Internet users in the world have Facebook accounts. The percentage of Latin American countries is even higher—more than 93% of respondents claimed to have a Facebook account. About half of the users who claim to have a Facebook account said they use the service every month.
