In order to achieve this goal before the next general election, the Indian government is accelerating the progress of the work, requiring states to find suitable locations for solar projects, including deserts, wasteland, national roads, river banks, and even above the canals. Indian officials said that the plan will cost about Rs 1 trillion in 5 years. MNRE has set up a single-window service organization to promote investment in the solar industry. A senior official of the ministry said that it has sent a letter to major domestic banks requesting to increase the credit line of the solar industry. Multilateral agencies are also participating in the development of the plan's investment roadmap. MNRE is working with PricewaterhouseCoopers to develop a project implementation report, which may be submitted to Prime Minister Modi on November 4 or 5.
